Privacy Policy.
What we collect, why, who helps us handle it, and what you can do about it.
Last updated October 3, 2026.
This policy covers the website of Lemma College Counseling in Massachusetts (“Lemma”, “we”, “us”), including the Resources pages and Resources accounts. We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not show ads.
1. What we collect
When you create a Resources account or sign up for emails:
- Your email address.
- Your password, stored only as a scrambled one-way code (a hash). Nobody at Lemma can read it.
- Whether you are a parent or a student, and the student’s grade, if you give them.
- A mobile phone number and whether you want texts, only if you give them.
- Which page you signed up on, and dates: when you signed up, confirmed your email, agreed to our terms, and last logged in.
When you use a form on the site (consultation, intake or agreement), what you type is emailed to us, and we keep it with our email.
In your browser: logging in sets one cookie, lemma_session, which keeps you logged in for up to 90 days. Signing up for emails saves a small note in your browser so we do not ask again. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, or analytics tools.
2. How we use it
- To run your account: confirming your email, logging in, and resetting your password.
- To send deadline emails, and texts if you asked for them.
- To reply when you write to us or ask for a consultation.
- To understand, in general, who uses the Resources, so we can improve them.
3. Who helps us handle it
We use these companies to run the site. Each one handles your information under its own privacy policy, only to provide its service to us:
- Vercel hosts the website.
- Prisma hosts the database where accounts and sign-ups are stored.
- Kit (kit.com) keeps the email list for people who sign up with the newsletter box, without an account. It receives that email, role and grade.
- Apple iCloud Mail sends the deadline reminder and new program emails to accounts, and account emails such as confirmation and password reset links.
- Google (Gemini on Google Cloud) updates the program list every day. It receives only the program list, never anything about you.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of a person or the site.
4. Children
The site is not meant for children under 13, and they must not create an account. A parent or guardian can create one for a younger student. If we learn that a child under 13 has given us personal information without a parent, we will delete it. If you think this has happened, write to us.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete it from our database right away. If you signed up with the newsletter box, Kit keeps your address on that list until you unsubscribe there. Emails from our forms stay in our email until we delete them.
6. Your choices
- Change your details, email or password, or delete your account, on your Account page.
- Stop these emails with the link in any of them, or on your Account page.
- Stop texts by replying STOP, or by unticking the box on your Account page.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, by writing to info@lemmacollegecounseling.com.
7. Security
Passwords are stored only as hashes, the site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS), and the database is reached only over encrypted, checked connections. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a password you do not use anywhere else.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will tell account holders by email.
